Q: Where did you get the idea for Spatula City?
A: Spatula City was actually a joke that came from the "Weird Al" Yankovic movie UHF. If you have never seen this movie, you should do something about that. And it's not even out-of-print anymore!
One day, Zakk Weston and Jessi Bencloski were watching this movie, when Zakk said "there should be a website where you can send virtual spatulas to people". Jessi agreed and they proceeded to put the project on hold for a couple of years.
Q: So, how did Spatula City come to be then?
A: Quite a long time after the original idea was thought of, it was mentioned to Jason O'Kane, who cheerfully offered to write the code that would make such a site functional. Jessi made some crude spatula images and made some HTML templates, Jason did the programming, and Spatula City, the Virtual Spatula Server, was born.
Q: Who is currently involved in working on the site?
A: The Spatula City staff is as follows:
James O'Kane - Maintenance, Programming, Owner of midnightlinux.com
Jason O'Kane - Programming
Jessi Bencloski - Graphics
Q: Are you aware that the utensils pictured are not actually spatulas, but are actually 'pancake turners'?
A: Nobody likes a nitpicker.
Q: Do you sell T-Shirts?
A: YES! Click on the "Spatula City Store" link at the top of the page.
